The only residential recovery program for women of its kind in the Chicago area and one of the oldest centers for addiction treatment in the country recently turned 40. Grateful House in Oak Park provides a temporary home for alcoholic and chemically dependent women, housing more than 50 women each year and helping many more in its family and after-care programs.
“We are offering more out-patient services because we are getting clients who have problems in addition to addiction,” says Janet Piper Voss, executive director.
Grateful House is looking for volunteers in several capacities, which include openings on the board of directors, half of whose members also are in recovery. For more information, 708-848-6969.
