Devon M. Cotie, 19, a lifelong resident of West Chicago, died Thursday in a truck accident in Vermilion County. Born in St. Charles, Mr. Cotie was employed for the summer by Bash Pepper Roofing in Champaign. He was attending Parkland Community College there and working toward his degree in biology. For the past two years, he had been a member of the National Guard Unit in Elgin. He was a 1996 graduate of Elgin High School, where he had been the captain of the wrestling team in his senior year. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Jane; a brother; and his grandparents, Russell and Helen Cotie and Ruby Simmons. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norris-Walen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago.
