Roger Simon’s piece on treason (“Ready, aim, impeach!” Perspective, June 14) should be required reading for every person who holds political office.
Political gamesmanship requires that opponents label one another and call each other names. When politicians look to advance their careers by accusing the president of the United States of high treason, however, they may be guilty of the crime themselves.
Neither the accusation nor the crime should be taken lightly. Republican Reps. Dana Rohrabacher, Charlie Norwood and anyone else who has attacked our president should get their own houses in order before they attack the White House.
Treason is an act of war against the country you are sworn to protect. G. Gordon Liddy, Oliver North and Richard Nixon come to mind when I think of people who have committed crimes against the United States. But Bill Clinton? C’mon.
