After a successful visit last year, the NHL is returning to Japan to open its season.
Calgary and San Jose will get the 1998-99 season started in Tokyo with games on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10.
The Flames and Sharks will play in Yoyogi Arena, where the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Vancouver Canucks opened with two games a year ago. Both games were sellouts, attracting crowds of 10,500.
The new Nashville Predators get started on Oct. 10, facing the Florida Panthers at home.
