Charles M. Madigan misquotes Pete Seeger’s banjo in a story about Art Thieme (Tempo, July 20). It was Woody Guthrie’s guitar that bore the slogan “This machine kills fascists.” Seeger’s banjo carries these words on its face: “This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender.”
