Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The fire aboard the cruise ship Ecstasy, as your coverage pointed out, is under federal investigation. This is imperative. The gross failure of the ship’s captain is frightening.
Any fire aboard a ship is a potential disaster. Why was any welding going on at sea? If something needed to be repaired, it should have been done in port before the passengers were boarded. During welding a crew should have been standing by with a hose. And when any repair is under way, a crew member should be standing by with a two-way radio to alert the bridge in the event of an emergency.
They must err on the side of safety. Until I’m convinced they have learned this, I will confine sailing to my bathtub.
