I am writing to praise your addition of Leonard Pitts Jr. as a regular contributor. His essays on popular culture, the religious right, and the sad state of public discourse were all right on the money and beautifully written.
In a time when so many columnists only represent their gender, race or ideology, Mr. Pitts has a compassionate, universal take on issues. He seems to want to get at the truth for the benefit of all of us. More, please, from this gifted writer.
