Frank E. Vavrik, 81, died Tuesday in University Community Hospital in Tampa after a short illness. A native of Chicago, he was a member of the Painters and Decorators Union Local 275 for 61 years and worked as a painter for the City of Chicago until his retirement in 1978. He and his wife, Adeline Mirgain Vavrik, moved to Sun City Center, Fla., in 1981. Mr. Vavrik was a volunteer in Good Samaritans in Sun City Center, and he enjoyed working with stained glass and gardening. He served in the Army during World War II. Other survivors, in addition to his wife, Adeline, include two sons, Edward Vavrik and Robert Mirgain; a daughter, Anne Langford; a brother, Andrew Vavrik; and three granddaughters. Chapel services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 29, at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
