John A. Radke, 74, a World War II veteran who always looked at life as being filled with opportunity, died Friday in his Glen Ellyn home. Mr. Radke served as a first lieutenant in the Army infantry in World War II and used the GI Bill when he returned from overseas to attain a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northwestern University. An avid bowler and family man, Mr. Radke began working as a manufacturer’s representative for his father’s firm and continued in that line of work. “He always saw life as a glass that was half full, maybe even three-quarters,” said his daughter, Pamela Radke. “He was a kind, gentle man who made friends so easily.” Besides his daughter, survivors include his wife of 48 years, Constance, and a son, Dr. James Radke. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn. Mass will be said at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Petronille Catholic Church, Hillside and Glenwood Streets, Glen Ellyn.
