Edward Szustowski, 65, of Plainfield, a construction-site inspector and U.S. Air Force veteran, died Thursday in Rush-Copley Medical Center, Aurora. Mr. Szustowski was born in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. Mr. Szustowski enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was wounded in combat. After the war, he joined HPD Inc., a Chicago filter manufacturing company. He retired from the company in 1995. Survivors include his son, Paul; a daughter, Diana; and a sister, Jean Nirtaut. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Chapel, 530 W. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook. A funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division St., Plainfield.
