The Gurnee Plan Commission has directed a residential developer to return with a revised plan for a 54-unit townhouse development after residents complained that the proposal would make traffic problems worse.

Westfield Homes Inc. has proposed building the townhouses on 8 acres at the northwest corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Manchester Drive. The plan calls for only one entrance to the proposed subdivision, which could create traffic bottlenecks, many residents said.

The entrance would be on Dunham Road, most of which is privately owned by the homeowners association of the Heather Ridge subdivision, which abuts the property on the west. Westfield Homes is scheduled to return with a revised plan for the Plan Commission’s Oct. 7 meeting.
