Imagine my surprise when my 9-year-old son, reading aloud the Sunday SPOTS jokes (Comics, Oct. 18), came to the unfunny pun about lynched people hanging out together.
That the intended audience of grade-schoolers would understand what a lynching was–much less enjoy a joke about it–is a sad assumption by the 10-year-old author.
More disturbing is that the Chicago Tribune SPOTS editor thought it worthy to print.
