Mandel Forester, 80, of Prospect Heights died Saturday in Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines. Mr. Forester, a Chicago native and a retired sales engineer in the electronics industry, served as an alderman in Prospect Heights from 1983 to 1987. Mr. Forester, an avid golfer, was, since 1982, a starter at Chevy Chase Country Club, Wheeling, who helped golfers arrange playing times and set up at the first tee there. Mr. Forester was a World War II veteran. “It was through Manny Forester that we adopted a property maintenance and occupant code for the city to see that multiple-unit dwellings were properly maintained and not overcrowded,” said Prospect Heights Mayor Ed Rotchford. “He headed up the Building Committee. I also served with him on the committee for the selection of a second administrator for the city. Those were important committees. He was a good man. He was easy to work with. He did a lot of research for us. I really enjoyed working with this man.” Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights.
