Wrigley in Russia: William Wrigley Jr. Co., Chicago-based maker of Wrigley’s chewing gum, said it has opened a $70 million factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. It said the new plant started test production in December and reached full production levels in January. It will have the capacity to supply Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The factory, to be officially opened in May, would initially use almost only imported supplies, but Wrigley said it was searching for domestic suppliers, especially for packaging.
