I was very upset by your article “911 call brought paramedics but no help.” For years my husband has suffered from asthma. He has mild to severe attacks, but it is the severe attacks that are the most frightening. I have been to the hospital with him a number of times when he’s wheezing, his lips and fingernails blue.
I am outraged that in the tragic wake of Renee Kazmierowski’s death, the City of Chicago treats this case with an air of indifference and shuffles for an excuse, trying to explain its failure to save her life. What if this was a relative of one of our state legislators and not that of an average citizen?
This is a very disturbing case of gross city negligence. The Supreme Court needs to reverse any law that would hold paramedics immune to the outcomes of their own judgment calls.
