Maurice Teitel, 65, of Prospect Heights, who owned an automotive business in Niles for almost two decades, died Thursday in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. He was born in France. When he was 5, he moved to Chicago with his family. He graduated from Roosevelt College before starting work in the automotive business, said his son, Robert. Mr. Teitel also lived in Mt. Prospect for 20 years. He owned and operated Auto Color Inc. in Niles from 1975 until 1994. The business sold automotive paint to body shops and car dealers, his son said. Mr. Teitel was most recently a co-owner of Town Line Collision in Mundelein. Family members said Mr. Teitel will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit and great sense of humor. “He was always joking around,” his son said. “He was hard-working, but he loved life.” When Mr. Teitel wasn’t working, he enjoyed boating and playing poker. Other survivors include his wife, Myrta; a son, David; and a sister, Ruth. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect.
