Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Please stop the madness. The Tribune’s overuse of parenthetic reporting reached its zenith on Feb. 25, in its story on Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood’s recovery from illness (“Still-ailing Wood back in hospital,” Sports).

Quoting General Manager Ed Lynch, the Tribune story read, “. . .he woke up with a temperature of 101 (degrees).” As opposed to feet? Or pounds?

It would serve everyone better if you assumed that the majority of your readers have a keen grasp of the obvious and that we deserve a tad more respect for (our) intelligence.
