I have another Proposition for Judge Ronald L. Buckwalter of Philadelphia. Check out the test scores of these so-called “deprived” athletes when they are leaving college. Buckwalter is the federal judge who threw out the NCAA’s Proposition 16 college entrance requirements for athletes, saying “African-American and low-income student-athletes have been disproportionately impacted” by the standards on classroom grades and standardized test scores. Proposition 48, which evolved into Prop. 16, was adopted in 1986 and placed tougher entrance requirements on athletes. The ruling attempted to limit schools from accepting any athlete as long as he or she could play. If the judge has his way (the NCAA is appealing) there would be no limits as to how low a college could go academically to bring in an athlete at the Division I and II levels. That would be a disgrace.
