The chief executive officer of Detroit’s public schools, David Amney, is expected to name three top administrators to his temporary staff this week.
The appointments of Bernard Parker, a Wayne County Commissioner, and Tom Diggs, a local information systems specialist, will be announced Wednesday by Adamany at a school board meeting, The Detroit News reported.
Nate Taylor, hired by the former school board in February as a deputy superintendent, likely will be kept on as the district’s chief operating officer. Taylor’s appointment is the only of the three that requires the school board’s approval.
The school-reform law passed in March requires the board to approve a chief operating officer, a chief financial officer, a purchasing director and a chief academic officer. Adamany is free under the law to make any other administrative appointments.
