John Gill, 64, of Tinley Park, and formerly of Homewood, died Saturday in St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond. Mr. Gill owned the Frank H. Gill Co., a distributor of material-handling equipment in Lansing that was founded by his father. A graduate of Cornell University and the University of Chicago, Mr. Gill was a member of the Material Handling Engineers Distributors Association, the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, and the Salem Lutheran Church in Homewood. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Olympia Fields Country Club. “He was a great, fun-loving guy,” said his wife, Louise. “He had a wonderful sense of humor.” Other survivors include two sons, John and Thomas; two daughters, Tracy Jacobson and Wendy Dehnert; three stepsons, James, Daniel and David Kreidler; a stepdaughter, Laura Casiano; a brother, Charles; and six grandchildren. Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Salem Lutheran Church, 184th Street and Ashland Avenue, Homewood.
