Think about this the next time you throw a cigarette, bottle, can or piece of paper on the ground. You are engaging in an act far worse than burning the flag. Littering is desecrating the country itself; burning the flag is just desecrating a symbol.
It is easy not to burn the flag; it’s not done often. But for Americans not to litter is a real effort–just look around and you get the true impression of what Americans really think of their country.
So if you are a true patriot don’t litter, especially you smokers–you’re treating our country like an ashtray.
