Frieda Freels, 96, of McHenry, died Sunday in her home. She was born in Dortmund, Germany. She came to the United States in 1927, and she and her husband, Anton, married in Chicago in the same year. They had farmed in the Crystal Lake and McHenry area. Survivors include a daughter, Marianne Whitehead; a son, Anthony; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and services at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Peter M. Justen Colonial Funeral Home, 3807 W. Elm St., McHenry.
