Marjorie Jean Kenning, 89, a former principal in Chicago’s public schools, died Sept. 12 in Milwaukee. A native and longtime resident of Chicago, Miss Kenning was a former principal of Franklin and Swift Elementary Schools. She graduated in 1946 from Loyola University with a master’s degree in education. She was interested in world affairs and often traveled across the globe, said her cousin, James Lob. “She was a lady in the purist sense of the word,” Lob said. “She was gracious, unflappable and always in control. She was always the teacher, always in charge.” Services were held in Wauwatosa, Wis.
