Perhaps in the wake of the death of Walter Payton our legislators would consider this option regarding organ donor status on drivers’ licenses: As far as I’m concerned, donating should be the default choice. If only we had to “opt out” rather than “opt in” we could go such a long way toward ending the shortage of organ donations in this country. In a final tribute, the change could even be called the Payton Act.
