Nicholas A. Pecora, 70, of Arlington Heights, a retired attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission, died Saturday in his home. Mr. Pecora graduated from St. Mel’s High School there and obtained a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minn. During high school and college, Mr. Pecora served in the Reserve Officers Training Corps and the National Guard. He received his law degree from DePaul University in Chicago in 1953. He worked as an attorney and as the chief of small issues and interpretation at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Chicago. He retired in 1992. “He was a very funny man,” said his daughter, Mary Mottonen. “He made everyone laugh right up until the end.” Other survivors include his wife of 38 years, Miriam; four sons, Nicholas Jr., Matthew, Anthony and Daniel; a brother, Angelo; a sister, Marie Martino; and nine grandchildren. A visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Services will be at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. A mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell Ave., Arlington Heights.
