Two Waubonsie Valley High School students have won scholarships in the Upstate Eight art exhibition and contest at Aurora University.
Waubonsie students submitted nine pieces. Ten schools in the Upstate Eight conference are participating in the art show, which is on display through Friday in Alumni Hall.
The Waubonsie Valley artists are Monique Juarez, Josh Schober, Dan Bina, Adam Senicka, Annie Roebrecht, Nicole Minnihan, Heather Berg and Joe Chehoski.
For her woodcut, Roebrecht won a first-place ribbon and a $1,000 scholarship to Aurora University. She also received an honorable mention for her ceramic onion.
Minnihan won a third-place ribbon and a $500 scholarship for her drawing and Dan Bina won an honorable mention for his stippling project.
