A leading gang expert testified Friday against the Satan Disciples to help DuPage County prosecutors get a temporary restraining order to stop the gang from functioning.
West Chicago Police Sgt. Bruce Malkin detailed several incidents of gang violence from involuntary manslaughter to aggravated battery of a police officer to drive-by shootings, as well as other illegal use of weapons.
The hearing will enter its second week Monday.
State’s Atty. Joseph Birkett has filed a civil lawsuit against the gang, under a previously unused portion of a 1993 state law.
