She’s ba-a-a-ck.

In fact, La Nina never left. Now here’s what she’s going to do to your winter vacation.

In Michigan, expect the weather to be cooler and wetter than normal, says meteorologist Jeff Andresen, professor of geology at Michigan State University.

That should translate as snow. “Should” is the key word. After all, we’re talking about the weather. Last winter also was a La Nina. Michigan got big dumps in January and that was about it.

The problem is, La Nina is given to dramatic mood swings.

Andresen says La Nina temperatures can bounce from much above to much below normal. And weather can be stormier and less consistent than usual.

Out on the West Coast, you can expect stormy weather in northern California, Oregon and Washington. Inland, the northern states should be colder and wetter than normal.

If you’re heading south for some sun bonding, La Nina bodes warmer and drier days across the southern tier of states, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and the northern half of the Caribbean.
