New Lenox officials said recently they will seek state beautification grants.
Village Administrator Russ Loebe said the areas targeted for enhancement are median strips along U.S. Highway 30 and the area where Old Plank Road Trail abuts the New Lenox Commons area that will become a town center.
Enhancing the trail and the Commons would cost about $25,000, Loebe said. The cost of improving the appearance of the highway will depend on Illinois Department of Transportation regulations.
“The application won’t commit us” if the cost turns out to be too high even with grant assistance, Loebe said.
