Donations of toys, books, puzzles and cash are being sought for a Christmas project, now in its 16th year, that provides gifts for children from poor families in the Batavia area.
Parents of eligible children will be invited to select gifts for their offspring in December during an event sponsored by the Action Committee on Community Environment and Social Services, a volunteer group.
In previous years, donors have been asked to drop off gifts at local fire stations. But because of remodeling projects at those sites, donors are asked to bring contributions to the empty store next to Walgreens at 154 W. Wilson St. between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday and Dec. 4.
Gifts also may be taken there from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 6, 8 and 10. Checks should be made out to ACCESS Toys and dropped off through Dec. 10 at the Batavia Police Department.
