The Wisconsin Athletic Board next week will take up a proposal for a preferential seating program for football games, including a new fee for many ticket-holders.

The proposal unveiled Thursday would assess an annual fee of $250 per seat for season tickets near the 50-yard line at Camp Randall Stadium, in addition to the price of $28 per ticket, starting in 2001.

Football season ticket-holders who have bought tickets for 25 years or more without any interruption will not have to pay the per-seat donation in 2001.

– L.C. Cole, who led Tennessee State to an 11-0 record last season but also landed the school on three years’ NCAA probation, was hired at Alabama State to replace the fired Ron Dickerson.

– Roger Hughes, an offensive coordinator who helped Dartmouth win two Ivy League titles, was hired as head coach at Princeton, replacing Steve Tosches, who was fired after last season.
