Parents who weren’t able to stash away the small fortune needed for their children’s college education now have another chance. Two, actually, from a pair of Web sites that are offering money for college.
FreeScholarships.com, which went on-line this month, is giving away $10,000 in a random drawing every day for college, graduate school or even private and parochial school. The company also plans to award another $25,000 every month and $50,000 each quarter.
Money for nothing? Well, not exactly. To participate, visitors to the site will have to provide demographic information that will go to the marketers and advertisers that are financing the scholarships and who are pursuing that lucrative teens-to-early-20s audience. Visitors who play games, answer surveys and polls, refer friends or click on ads earn more chances in the drawings. FreeScholarships also provides financial aid tips and has links to national scholarship programs.
Money is also being given away at www.RightStart.com, an e-commerce subsidiary of The Right Start, a retailer of child development and educational products. To mark its 15th anniversary, RightStart.com is awarding a $15,000 scholarship and 1,500 other prizes every 15 days all year.
