When Houston’s Steve Francis was tied up by Charlotte’s David Wesley in the first quarter of the Hornets’ 102-97 victory and didn’t get a foul call, Francis glared at referee Ken Mauer for several seconds. Mauer was unimpressed with the rookie’s tactics. “What are you looking at?” Mauer shot back. “Play the game.”
Slapped
Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers was fined $5,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for directing obscene language at fans during Saturday’s game against the New York Knicks. In the third quarter of Indiana’s loss at New York, Miller reacted to a chant directed at him by fans. Miller sat out the fourth quarter of the game.
