Dorothee Riemer, 77, of Barrington, a retired secretary, died Sunday, Feb. 27, in Manor Care Health Services in Naperville. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Riemer played the French horn in the Women’s Symphony Orchestra in Chicago during the 1940s. She also was an accomplished pianist. A resident of Barrington since 1956, Mrs. Riemer worked 22 years as a secretary for General Kinematics Corp. in Barrington. She retired in 1985. “Music was a big part of her life,” said her daughter Karen Parmelee. “She always enjoyed the fine arts.” Other survivors include a son, Bruce; another daughter, Lynne Kelling; a brother, Edgar Manseau; a sister, Gloria Soneson; and four grandchildren. A visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 S. Dundee Ave., Barrington.
