“One of the things that our community is responding to quite well is its growing diversity. Our department is undertaking a number of initiatives to help this community grow as it becomes more diverse and more geographically spread out.
“Our focus is especially among our younger population and our older population. This spring, we’ll be conducting a needs assessment for seniors that will help us know more clearly what’s being done in terms of services in other places and where there might be gaps. We are currently working with one day-care provider, and our goal is to expand our services to three day-care centers.”
