This is regarding Bernie Lincicome’s “Society advances but hockey doesn’t follow” (Sports, Feb. 23).

Mr. Lincicome’s condemnation of all hockey players on the basis of one man’s actions is completely uncalled for.

Marty McSorley’s actions do not reflect what hockey is all about. Mr. Lincicome’s implications that this is the typical behavior in a hockey game is ludicrous.

Hockey is no more violent than football, yet how many articles do we see addressing the unsportsmanlike and illegal hits in a football game?

As for Mr. McSorley’s actions, everyone makes mistakes; fortunately for the rest of us, ours aren’t televised.
