Delivery driver Christopher E. Stanford, 23, of the 900 block of Carriage Way Drive, Elgin, was charged Friday night with one felony count of presence in a school zone by a child sex offender. Stanford, who was on probation for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old in 1998, allegedly delivered four boxes to Dirksen School, 116 W. Beech Drive, then headed to drop off packages at an unspecified school in Buffalo Grove when he was involved in a traffic accident in Buffalo Grove. He allegedly told Buffalo Grove police that he had dropped off packages at the Schaumburg school. He faces a March 8 court date. Stanford is registered as a sex offender with the Elgin Police Department, police said. Information about the accident was not available.
