Software billions: Softwaremaker i2 Technologies Inc. plans to buy Aspect Development Inc., a competing maker of business-to-business software for e-commerce, for stock valued at $9.3 billion in the largest merger ever in the software industry, the companies said. Dallas-based i2 would exchange 0.55 share for each Aspect share outstanding after Aspect’s two-for-one stock split, representing a 35 percent premium to Aspect’s closing stock price Friday after adjustment for the split, they said. Shareholders of Mountain View, Cal.-based Aspect would own 18 percent of the combined company.
