Richard Dempsey (Voice of the people, March 9) wrongly criticizes young, home-schooled Claire Seuffert for having a “bizarre (and self-serving) perspective on the public schools.”
Parents are the primary educators of their children. This right, and duty, should never be usurped by the state.
Claire should not be denied the opportunity to participate in the public schools’ extracurricular sporting activities simply because she doesn’t attend one. A portion of the taxes her family pays goes to fund the public schools.
Why are organizations like the National Education Association so threatened by home-schoolers?
Could it be that home-schooling prevents liberal teachers from indoctrinating young minds with their morally relativistic agenda?
