Robert Panzino, 50, a former football and baseball coach for the Hoffman Estates Athletic Association, died of cancer Wednesday, March 15, in his Hoffman Estates home. Born in Pittsburgh, Mr. Panzino was a graduate of Youngstown State University in Ohio, where he obtained a bachelor of arts degree in advertising. He worked as a sales representative for several footwear companies in Youngstown and Chicago. He moved to Hoffman Estates in 1987 and volunteered coaching youth football and baseball. In addition to coaching for the Hoffman Estates Athletic Association during the 1990s, Mr. Panzino also coached for the Palatine Amateur Football Association and served on the Fremd Boosters Board for Fremd High School in Palatine. “He was always very supportive,” said his son Matthew. “He was a very fun guy.” Other survivors include his wife of 28 years, Colleen; two sons, Nicholas and Blake; a daughter, Tahnee; his parents, Lena and Albert; and a brother, Al. Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. A mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Rd., Inverness.
