With an additional program supervisor on board, the Villa Park Park and Recreation Department is expanding its senior activities, summer youth camp offerings and community events.
Jenny Senczysen, who started in November as the department’s third program supervisor, told the Village Board Monday she has been surveying older adults who come to special events to see what other activities they might want. About 100 have returned surveys and indicated a desire for more speakers and day trips, she said.
Senczysen said she also hopes to start a senior newsletter by September and plans to put together a resource book listing services for seniors.
Summer youth camp this year will offer a program for ages 11 to 13. In addition to participating in activities, youth will have an opportunity to earn certificates of achievement by doing community service and working with younger participants in the summer camp, Senczysen said.
