The cost of building new subdivisions in the village just went up, as trustees this week approved raising the annexation fee and minimum developer donations to other taxing bodies.
“It is recommended that these amounts be increased now, as we are seeing some annexation and development activity. The donations from the developers will then reflect more accurately the costs which they are intended to cover,” said Village Manager Gregory Bielawski.
The annexation and fire protection district fees, both set in 1986, rose from $400 to $600 per acre. The village services fee rose from $250 for each new resident provided by the development to $360 per person. Developers also will have to pay $65 per new resident to the Public Library, up from $40. Officials did not change the $333 fee per new student for distribution between the school districts serving Carol Stream. Those fees are usually negotiated on a case-by-case basis, Bielawski said.
