One of the principles of war is that you don’t strike the enemy when he is strong but wait and probe for his weakness. Our adversaries are better at knowing this principle than the American people.
Americans usually don’t see trouble until our national assets are attacked. Our potential foes know this all too well. While Americans are distracted with a booming economy, the presidential campaign and increased leisure time, our foes have their hackles bristled.
China is threatening nuclear war over the Taiwan Straights, Kosovo tensions are boiling, Russia is forging a relationship with China to “contain” an interventionist United States. North Korea has missiles that can reach our mainland.
America has cut defense spending for nearly 12 years. We have thousands fewer people in uniform, hundreds of ships have been eliminated, tens of divisions don’t exist anymore. America always goes to war when we are least prepared for it (with the exception of Desert Storm).
