Every year Americans have the enjoyment of watching the best basketball in the world at two different levels. But which one is better? I think you’d be surprised.
The NBA playoffs are a showing of the best basketball on this planet. We see the biggest stars and the biggest egos all at the same time. And every year it’s the same. Almost always, the better, or expected, team wins.
But in NCAA basketball, there’s never a sure bet. It doesn’t matter what you’re ranked or whom you’re up against; there is always that shimmering light at the end of your road that for some reason, by some chance, you can beat that No. 1- or 2-ranked team on that one spectacular night.
That’s the difference between the NBA and college basketball–every night of this March Madness tourney, these kids will go out and put everything on the line, every last ounce of energy, for that one chance. And you will never know the outcome until the buzzer sounds off. They have no contracts, no photo shoots the next day. Those kids play for themselves and their teammates for a chance to be a part of NCAA history.
And frankly I don’t see the drive and determination shown with such intensity in professional basketball as I would expect from them.
