Janet Schwarz, 44, a La Grange Park business owner who always encouraged others to pick up her passion of reading good literature, died Thursday, March 23, in her home after a long illness. She was the owner of Schwarz Publishing Inc., which put out technical newsletters. A voracious reader, she was always involved in some sort of book club to discuss books and get recommendations for her eclectic taste, said her husband, William Weninger. After the couple’s two children became old enough to read, she devoted her free time to encouraging children to read. She volunteered this past school year for the Junior Great Books Group for 5th graders at St. Francis Xavier School in La Grange, a group that tries to turn students onto reading the classics, Weninger said. Also, she would encourage people to read by buying books that would interest them as gifts, her husband said. And when reading, she felt the books deeply. “You always had to be careful about what she was reading, because it would affect how she acted,” Weninger said. Other survivors include two sons, Ryan and Colin Weninger; her mother, Dolores Schwarz; a brother, Bill Schwarz; and three sisters, Anita Davis, Barbara Addington and Jennifer Schwarz. Mass was said Monday in St. Francis Xavier Church in La Grange.
