I so enjoyed reading Barbara Brotman’s column (“Our Cupboards Runneth Over With Souvenir Mugs,” Feb. 23). Would you believe 359? Many of mine are souvenirs, some are with advertising, some commemorative, some humorous, some unique, some just plain pretty.

It started simply, as do most collections. I had some on a collapsible rack on a wall. Eventually, my husband debarked part of a tree trunk, added a stand, drilled holes to insert dowels and put a dark finish on it. When it was filled, he added two wall panels on either side to accommodate even more. There are also special ones which I’ve placed throughout the house.

I’ve been trying to cut back, as I’ve been running out of space again. However, I keep seeing some that I simply can’t pass up.

QUESTION OF CONTROL

Dr. Jose Bufill’s article (“What Ills the Pill Has Wrought,” March 8) was full of misinformation. The overwhelming data confirming the safety of the pill is reassuring to millions of woman. As a professional in women’s health, it is discouraging to read such an invalidated article in a mainstream newspaper. This person’s opinion is not based on science but a reactionary plea to go back to the “good old days” before woman had any control over their bodies. It has been my experience over the past 25 years in health care that one false negative opinion article undoes multiple reassurances from a knowledgeable professional.
