James D. Sapp, 32, of the 1500 block of South Evers Avenue, Westchester, was charged with simple battery shortly after midnight Saturday after he allegedly kicked the hand of an 18-year-old female tow-truck driver while she attempted to put wheel straps on Sapp’s Ford Expedition in a lot in the 1000 block of North Salem Drive. The tow-truck driver had pulled into the lot in Schaumburg to adjust the wheel straps, then drove off after Sapp and several friends allegedly surrounded her. She had a small cut on her knuckle and a broken fingernail but did not require medical treatment.
