Vandals made a mess of Kewaskum High School, forcing officials to cancel classes Monday for more than 700 students, the superintendent said.
“It was just a general trashing,” said Superintendent Wayne Graczyk.
Windows were smashed, the trophy case was broken, a vending machine was tipped over and the school office and faulty area were trashed, Graczyk.
The break-in happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5:50 a.m. Monday, said Police Chief Richard L. Knoebel. It did not appear that anything was taken from the school, officials said.
An entrance door to the school may have been left ajar following a basketball program last night, Graczyk said. “We figured they [vandals] came in last night. It could be kids. It could be graduating kids.”
Police have made no arrests, Knoebel said.
Vandals broke a microwave in the faculty room and smashed bottles against the wall, school officials said.
Extracurricular activities, including softball and track, were to go on as scheduled Monday, Graczyk said.
Classes were expected to resume Tuesday after the building had been cleaned, he said.
