I was so happy to see your tribute to Steve “Hercules” Reeves (“A Hercules for another time,” Editorial, May 12).
I was one of those 50s kids who considered him a hero and found a certain direction in what he stood for, like Superman, the Lone Ranger, Captain Gallant and so on.
I think it’s sad that our children don’t have someone to emulate today, however naive it may seem in today’s world.
What our children may be missing is the lesson that trying to do the right thing under difficult conditions builds character and strength and may even give their children a hero later on.
