John B. Werda Sr., 87, of Elgin, formerly of Niles, retired in 1978 as a roofer and waterproofer after more than 35 years. He most recently worked 20 years for Rosenow Roofing, formerly in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Werda, a Chicago native, died Monday, May 29, in Carrington Care Center, South Elgin. “He was a hard worker and a good husband,” said his wife of 45 years, Rosemary B. Other survivors include three sons, John B. Jr., David and Matthew; and five grandchildren. A service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee.
